Music Videos
When MTV/VH1 still played music videos, I was all about them. I used to watch the countdowns every morning. Watching/listening music videos were the perfect thing to get ready for school. I miss music videos. Here are some of my favorites/most memorable.
10. Blue Orchid: White Stripes
This music video is creepy as fuck. Jack White is brilliant, and one of my favorite artists of all time. I think American Horror Story copied this music video. The song is great, and the music video makes you want to look away, but you can’t. I think it was this video that started my long obsession with Jack White.

9. Float On: Modest Mouse
Float On is one of my all time favorite songs, by Modest Mouse, one of my all time favorite bands. This video is perfect for this song. I love the stop motion. No one could make sheep going to the slaughter house more beautiful.

8. Alejandro: Lady Gaga
Yes, Gaga made my list. It was actually Lady Gaga’s music videos that got me into her music. Actually, it was hard to pick which Lady Gaga music video to use. She has a lot of good ones. I love her for this. She made an effort, and succeeded to bring the music video back. They are all weird and catchy, and sexy. Alejandro wins for the weirdest and sexiest for me. I like to work out to Gaga’s songs. They have a good beat, and I can’t help thinking about the music videos, which make me want to exercise harder so I can look as good naked.

7. Tonight, Tonight: The Smashing Pumpkins
This video is based on Georges Melies Trip to The Moon, and this music video was the introduction for Melies work for me. The music video is a great homage to original film genius. Great song. Great video.

6. Hit That: The Offspring
This creepy blue guy and a rocking punk tune, in search for a dog who needs to be neutered. This is one that just needs to be watched to be appreciated.

5. Thriller: Michael Jackson
Needs no explanation. It’s Thriller.

4. Otherside: Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the most fun band to watch. They also have a number of great music videos. Otherside has this dark, comic book feel. It’s one of the music video’s that always resinated with me.

3. Across the Universe: Fiona Apple
Most of the time, I hate Beatles covers. The Beatles are the greatest band of all time, and when people attempt to cover their songs (specifically Sarah Mclachlan), I hate it. Fiona Apple’s Across the Universe cover brings a more haunting tone the original. I might actual even like it better than the original. The music video is fantastic. Though, I think the main reason I like it so much is because for years I just wanted to be Fiona Apple.

2. Weapon of Choice: Fat Boy Slim
Christopher Walkin dancing? Yes, please. This video is just fun. It brings me so much joy. I need to learn some of these dance moves for all the upcoming weddings I have. Of course, I won’t look nearly as cool as Christopher Walkin.

1. Where’s Your Head At: Basement Jaxx
While this song is not even close to being one of my favorite songs, and I can’t name a single other Basement Jaxx song, this is, hands down, my favorite music video. Why? Probably it’s a cross because my love for monkeys and the weird. This music video is the best.
